A Vulnerability (CVE-2022-47939) Exists in Linux Kernal Allow for Arbitrary Code Execution

DESCRIPTION:
A vulnerability (CVE-2022-47939) allows remote attackers to execute arbitrary code on affected installations of Linux Kernel.The specific flaw exists within the processing of SMB2_TREE_DISCONNECT commands. The issue results from the lack of validating the existence of an object prior to performing operations on the object. An attacker can leverage this vulnerability to execute code in the context of the kernel.

 

AFFECTED RELEASES:
Linux Kernel version 5.15 to 5.15.60, 5.18 to 5.18.17, and 5.19 to 5.19.1

 

SOLUTION:
1. Update the Linux Kernel version to 5.15.61, 5.18.18, 5.19.2 or above.
2. Uninstall or disable ksmbd
